  • Location Sydney

Project Overview

Aspen partnered with MPA and Richards Stanisich to deliver the bespoke architectural joinery package for the refurbishment of the lobby at 255 George Street in Sydney’s CBD. Reimagined as a series of mixed-use working environments, the project transforms the building’s arrival experience into a sophisticated, flexible and welcoming destination for tenants and visitors. At its heart is an impressive focus library, creating a space to work, connect and meet beyond the traditional office. Designed on a human scale, the interior combines textural depth, chunky detailing and bright tonal materials that both complement and contrast the austere character of the original 1980s building, creating a distinctive and contemporary Tier One workplace experience.

PROJECT SCOPE

Aspen manufactured and installed a comprehensive suite of bespoke architectural joinery throughout the lobby and workplace environments. The scope included concierge joinery and wall detailing, café and kitchenette solutions, banquette and booth seating, communal tables, executive meeting tables, credenzas, shelving units, security benches, stairwell panelling and custom timber elements. A carefully curated palette of premium materials, including solid oak joinery, spotted gum timber flooring, Italian Calacatta marble, natural Bedonia stone, aged brass, leather, veneer, Pyrolave, custom terrazzo and solid timber lattice detailing, required meticulous coordination and precision craftsmanship to achieve a premium, cohesive interior while integrating seamlessly with the overall architectural vision.

PROJECT DELIVERY

Aspen delivered a highly coordinated joinery package within a busy, high-traffic commercial environment. Balancing aesthetic excellence with long-term durability was central to the project, with every element manufactured and installed to withstand the demands of a landmark CBD workplace. Sustainability also formed an important part of the refurbishment, with existing stone from the building repurposed into custom terrazzo features throughout the concierge, café, kiosk and mezzanine kitchenette. The completed project demonstrates Aspen’s capability to deliver sophisticated Tier One joinery packages that combine exceptional craftsmanship, responsible material reuse and enduring workplace performance.
