Project Overview

Omnicom Oceania’s new Melbourne workplace transforms a heritage-listed building on Bourke Street into a contemporary creative hub designed for collaboration, connection and innovation. Designed by Bates Smart and delivered by FDC, the workplace brings together Omnicom’s agencies within a dynamic environment that celebrates the building’s heritage character while supporting a modern communications organisation. Inspired by the building’s original porcelain tiles, bold blocks of pink, terracotta and blue create an immersive atmosphere, while light-filled work areas, terraces, sound-controlled studios and a dedicated production wing support creativity, performance and growth.

PROJECT SCOPE

Aspen manufactured and installed the premium bespoke architectural joinery package throughout the workplace, including reception joinery, breakout islands, kitchen and breakout spaces, banquette seating, feature screens, planters, integrated storage solutions and bespoke joinery elements. Every piece was carefully crafted to align with Bates Smart’s design intent, contributing to a cohesive workplace experience where functionality, craftsmanship and visual identity come together. The joinery complements the vibrant material palette while helping define collaborative spaces that encourage connection and flexible ways of working.

PROJECT DELIVERY

Working within a heritage-listed building required a considered approach to integrating contemporary joinery with the existing architectural fabric. Specialist materials, refined finishes and detailed joinery elements were carefully coordinated across multiple spaces to ensure the new workplace complemented the building’s restored character while delivering contemporary performance and functionality. Precision manufacturing, meticulous detailing and carefully planned installation ensured each element contributed seamlessly to the architectural vision, balancing heritage sensitivity with the expectations of a premium commercial fit-out.
