Project Overview
Delivered in collaboration with Schiavello and FJC Studio, the TAFE NSW Bankstown project included a comprehensive architectural joinery and wall-panelling package across eight floors. Completed over approximately 16 weeks, the project was delivered under a tightly managed, fast-tracked programme with significant overlap between trades and workstreams. Speed was the defining driver, with the programme demanding rapid mobilisation and delivery without compromising quality or consistency.
PROJECT SCOPE
Aspen delivered a comprehensive package of bespoke joinery and wall panelling across all eight levels. The works were executed in two carefully planned phases, with wall panelling commencing first, followed by joinery midway through the programme, enabling concurrent activity across multiple floors. The project required the manufacture and installation of a high volume of joinery and wall panelling while maintaining consistent quality throughout. It also supported Green Star sustainability requirements, ensuring materials and construction aligned with the project’s environmental objectives.
PROJECT DELIVERY
The compressed programme demanded an agile and highly coordinated delivery methodology. Multiple trades were working simultaneously across eight active floors while shop drawings continued to evolve, requiring rapid documentation, decision-making and close coordination between drafting, manufacturing and site teams. Early-stage site conditions added further complexity, with Aspen undertaking site measurements from floor markings before walls and ceiling heights had been established. This required an adaptive approach to measurement, interpreting design intent, developing coordinated documentation for pricing and approval, and continuously refining the work as site conditions evolved. The result was a highly process-driven delivery that maintained programme momentum and quality throughout a complex, fast-moving project.
