It starts before production
Every joinery company has a process. At Aspen, we’ve spent decades refining ours into something much more valuable: a methodology that creates certainty for architects, builders and clients alike. It brings together early collaboration, technical expertise and disciplined project management, ensuring every decision is informed, every stage is connected, and every detail is carried through to completion.
Our methodology begins well before manufacturing. Through early contractor involvement, design consultancy and stakeholder workshops, we work alongside architects, builders and clients while projects are still taking shape.
These early conversations allow us to explore materials, construction methodology and buildability while there is still flexibility to influence the outcome. Material selection can be balanced against availability, cost and environmental considerations, while opportunities for reuse, lower-carbon alternatives and value management can be identified before documentation is complete.
The result is a project with greater clarity from the outset, reducing risk while protecting the original design intent.
One connected team
Aspen manages projects through one integrated team. Our in-house team of drafters, project managers, manufacturing teams and installers all work within the same workflow, giving us complete visibility from the first shop drawing through to final installation.
Before production begins, we develop shop drawings, manufacture prototypes, and prepare samples for review, allowing clients and architects to validate materials, finishes, and detailing before manufacturing proceeds. This process reduces uncertainty and ensures quality expectations are agreed early.
Every project is supported by a dedicated project manager, site manager and project administrator. Drawing registers, value management registers and variation registers provide complete transparency throughout delivery, while regular work-in-progress and site meetings keep builders, consultants and production teams aligned as the project progresses.
Beyond practical completion
Our methodology continues after installation. Aspen’s objective is to resolve defects before leaving site, supported by a dedicated post-care representative who remains connected to the project team and responds quickly should any issues arise.
Comprehensive handover documentation, including maintenance manuals, warranties and care instructions, ensures clients have the information they need to protect the long-term performance of their joinery.
From the brief to the Sydney skyline
Aspen’s methodology has been refined through projects where careful coordination is as important as craftsmanship.
At Allens, a nine-floor commercial fitout delivered with MPA in Sydney, multiple fitouts were progressing simultaneously within 33 Alfred Street under demanding programme constraints. Dedicated project teams, structured registers and regular coordination between drafting, manufacturing, site and builder ensured every floor progressed in step, maintaining quality while protecting programme certainty.
At Asahi Beverages, delivered with McCormack and designed by Hot Black, the methodology supported the delivery of architectural joinery and wall panelling across six floors. This program spanned 8,800 sqm over a 17-week delivery period. From detailed shop drawings through to manufacturing, logistics and installation, every stage was carefully coordinated to maintain design quality while integrating seamlessly with the wider construction programme.
The projects themselves are different, but the methodology remains the same: early collaboration, disciplined communication, and one connected team working together at every stage.
